Bill Fadden 01/06. The year got off to a busy start with 60's legend's The Pirates finishing their new album, which was started in December and looks set for an April release on Castaway records. Another music legend records at Western Star

Ian Gomm
01/06 Hugely talented singer/songwriter and Stiff Records recording artist Ian Gomm has recorded two tracks Western Star.

Ian first found success as a member of 70's cult band Brinsley Schwarz, who were signed to United Artists and who toured with Dave Edmunds, Paul McCartney & Wings and also appeared in the movie "Stardust". Ian also co-wrote many successful hits with his Brinsley' band-mate Nick Lowe, including the transatlantic smash "Cruel To Be Kind".

Since leaving Brinsley Schwarz, Ian has recorded several solo albums and has had his songs recorded by such luminaries as Phil Everly (of the Everly Brothers) and US country chart-topper Glen Campbell. More recently Ian recorded his last album in Nashville using some of America's top session players and was engineered by Johnny Cash's recording engineer!

Ian was here at Western Star Studio to guest on two tracks for the forthcoming volume two all-star tribute to Joe Meek on the Western Star label. Meanwhile, "Hold On - The Best Of Ian Gomm" is available on Cherry Red records and his website www.iangomm.com is well worth checking out.
